Get Involved. Submissions are welcome in areas that address the conference theme with a focus on education and training in key areas of applied psychology, as well as scholarly work focusing on case management, coaching, counselling, human resources and psychology applied to any domain(s) where social inclusion is an issue, such as the interrelated areas of socioeconomic disadvantage; ethnicity and culture; illness and disability; mental health; gender and sexuality. In particular around the following themes:
Abstracts: Abstracts no longer than 200 words should be submitted through the conference website by 04 July 2011. Submissions should follow the format described in the template, and details of the name, institution, contact information must be provided for all named authors. All abstracts will be reviewed by at least two members of the conference program committee and feedback will be provided to authors following review.
Submissions should indicate the proposed presentation format which may be:
Symposium[1]. A symposium will take the form of an integrated series of three papers around a clearly identified theme. The symposium chair should submit the abstracts for all presenters, as well as an additional 200 word statement of (a) the aims of the symposium; (b) the relationship of the topic to the conference themes; (c) the relevance to the conference audience; (d) the expertise / viewpoints represented by presenters. Symposia should be designed to run for the same length of time as three individual oral presentations, comprising 20 minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions (75 minutes in total).
Individual Oral Paper[1] Individual oral papers will be related to one or more of the conference themes and will be presented in the context of recent research and / or policy. Oral papers may report on work using a range of methodologies. Oral papers will have 25 minutes allowed in the conference program (20 minutes: presentation; 5 minutes: questions).
Poster. Posters are suitable for shorter communications, and for work-in-progress. They will be scheduled around common themes to facilitate networking and discussion between presenters and audience members and will be scheduled during 30 minute morning and afternoon tea timeslots.
Notification of outcome of abstract submission will be sent to the corresponding author by 1 August 2011. All abstract of papers included in the final program will be included in full in the conference program.
Scholarships: Students and educators from the ACAP Brisbane and Melbourne campuses who have had their abstract approved for presentation at the conference may apply for a scholarship of $400 to assist with travel and accommodation costs.
[1] Authors may be invited to submit a full paper (5000 words) for peer review and publication in the College journal Conatus: An Australian Journal for the Social Sciences. Authors who wish to have their contribution considered for publication in advance of the conference should submit an expression of interest in the form of an extended abstract by the date indicated in the calendar.
